Sightseeing
Although we will not have a planed excursion during the conference, there are many attractions around Yokohama area. Please visit following webpages, and if you wish, please prepare for your trip.
Access
From an airport to Yokohama area
Narita Airport
Please visit the airport access page for an overview of available access options.
If you are going to stay in Yokohama, we recommend using the Narita Express (or N'EX) which provides a direct and fast connection between Narita airport and Yokohama. The ride takes about 90 minutes.
Here you can find the N'EX timetable:
http://www.eki-net.com/pc/jreast-shinkansen-reservation/english/wb/common/timetable/e_nex_u/index.html
Note: Please, be aware that not all N'EX trains go to Yokohama, and that Yokohama is not the final destination of the route.
If you are planning to depart from the Narita airport within 14 days after the arrival, we advise buying the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket which provides great savings: one-way ticket from Narita to Yokohama costs 4,290 yen (https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/nex/tickets.html) while the N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Ticket costs 4,070 yen (including consumption task). Moreover, it allows transferring to another JR East train (excluding limited express trains) to any JR East station within the designated Tokyo train area (free of charge). That means after arriving at Yokohama station you can transfer, for example, to JR Yokohama line or JR Keihin-Tohoku/Negishi line and ride to Sakuragicho station (Google map), which is the closest JR station to the conference site and many nearby hotels (though this saves just 140 yen :)).
Warning N'EX TOKYO Round Trip Tickets can be purchased from the JR EAST Travel Service Centers and from JR Ticket Offices (Midori-no-madoguchi) at Narita Airport Terminals 1 and 2ยท3. Purchase is not available outside Japan. The service centers and tickets offices are NOT open 24-hours — please consult https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pass/nex_round.html web-page (section "Where to purchase") to find the information about office hours and their locations. Purchase and use are available only for holders of non-Japanese passports. Passport confirmation is required at the time of purchase.
A cheaper alternative is to use a shuttle bus to access Tokyo and then go by train to Yokohama. See the bottom of the airport access page for an overview of available shuttle buses.
- Tokyo shuttle: It costs 1,000 yen, leaves every 20 mins during the daytime, and go from Narita to Tokyo station (it takes about 70 min).
- The access Narita shuttle: It costs 1,000 yen (daytime), leaves every 20 mins during the daytime, and go from Narita to Tokyo station and Ginza station. The time required between Narita Airport and Tokyo, Ginza is approximately 65~75 minutes.
A ride from Tokyo station to Yokohama station by JR Tokaido Line takes about 30 minutes and costs 470 yen. A ride from Tokyo station to Sakuragicho station requires a transfer at Yokohama station and additional 3-min ride (the fare will be 550 yen).
Note Depending on the shuttle bus, you'll need to walk up to several hundred meters from the bus stop to the Tokyo station entrance. Both the Tokyo station and Yokohama station are very big stations, so for the first time Japan visitors it might be not easy to navigate. If you decide to go by this way, just do not rush (trains depart frequently), follow directions, and breath deeply :)) . If you decide to go by a similar way back to the Narita airport, be sure you take the shuttle bus well in advance because of possible traffic jams.
Please use a route planner like, e.g. Google Maps or Hyperdia (only railway routes), to find a route at specific time (they are also a plenty of route finder apps for Android and iPhone).
Haneda Airport
Please visit the airport access page for an overview of available access options.
The Keikyu Railways connect Haneda Airport with Yokohama. "Rapid limited express" trains are the fastest. A ride takes about 25 minutes and costs 450 yen.
There is the airport limousine from Haneda Airport to Red Brick Warehouse by KEIKYU bus. It is 730 yen and about ~1 hour ride (of course, this depends on the traffic). Here is the information (e.g., time table) about the airport limousine service.

Electricity in Japan
The voltage in Japan is 100 V. Most of the power plugs are two pins (no ground pin). It might be difficult to find the adapter from the plug of your country to Japanese plug in Japan. Please prepare the adapter for converting a power plug in your country. Here is the article about the electricity in Japan.
